Portrait Session with Ms. C, at Tumwater Falls Park – June 13, 2025

On June 13th, I had the privilege of working with a stunning and graceful model, known here as Ms. C, during a portrait session at Tumwater Falls Park. The day unfolded beneath soft summer skies, with the sound of rushing water echoing through one of Washington’s most scenic and historically rich locations.

Tumwater Falls Park, located where the Deschutes River tumbles toward Budd Inlet, is more than a beautiful backdrop. It’s a site of deep cultural and historical significance—once home to Indigenous fishing grounds, and later the birthplace of Washington’s first American settlement north of the Columbia River. Today, the park balances wild beauty with walking trails, bridges, and preserved relics of its milling and brewing past.

Ms. C was the perfect match for such a location. Her presence was poised and grounded, exuding quiet confidence in every frame. Whether standing beneath the canopy of trees, pausing near the falls, or walking along the curved wooden footbridges, she brought an effortless elegance that elevated every shot.

What stood out most was Ms. C’s professional demeanor and patience. Portrait sessions in public parks come with the unpredictable—onlookers, changing light, shifting weather—but she adapted to each moment with grace and ease. Her ability to hold space while remaining natural in front of the lens made the creative process fluid and enjoyable.

As the light changed throughout the afternoon, we embraced the textures of the setting—stone, water, wood, and leaves—allowing the park’s tones to complement her expressions and movements. There were moments of serenity, strength, and subtle drama, all wrapped in the echo of the falls behind her.

This shoot was a beautiful fusion of person and place—a reminder of what can be created when nature, history, and humanity come together in one frame. Working with Ms. C, at Tumwater Falls Park was not just a session—it was a story told in light, movement, and patience.
